Dear SFC Players & Parents,
Hoping that you and families are staying safe and healthy as we continue to navigate through this pandemic. I wanted to contact you on behalf of the SFC coaches and board to encourage those who HAVE NOT registered for Summit FC for this spring to do so ASAP.
As of today only 66 players are signed up on GotSoccer which is less than half of our normal numbers at this juncture. The board and I realize that some families are reluctant with the uncertainty of COVID. But, it’s extremely important that you do so as we are trying to organize teams. Not registering jeopardizes not only your roster spot but may also force us to make decisions about what age group teams to sponsor based on numbers at hand. For example, we may have to have a U15/U14 team instead of a U16/U15 team because of a lack of older registrants.
To alleviate some of your concerns and give you context, the plan for this spring is for ALL SFC TEAMS to play in the Vermont Soccer League (VSL) and we will only enter in-state tournaments (ex. Green Mountain Challenge, Nordic or Essex) as we are unsure of what the travel restrictions will be from the state of VT. We feel this will give our players the best chance to have a fullest spring season possible.
Between now and then as in the past we will have team training in Spartan/Giorgetti Arenas before heading outside to the Polo Fields. We will begin age group technical training and small sided play THIS WEEKEND at the Rutland Recreation Community Center (the former College of St. Joe Gym) on Saturday/Sunday (2/13 & 2/14) with the following schedule:
Saturday
6:00 pm – U13/U14 Boys & Girls (2007, 2008)
7:15 pm – U16/U17/U18/U19 Boys & Girls (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005)
Sunday
8:00 am – U9/U10 Boys & Girls (2011, 2012)
9:30 am – U11/U12 Boys & Girls (2009, 2010)
Please note that because there is a capacity limit at CSJ due to COVID restrictions, all those REGISTERED 2021 SFC PLAYERS will receive a link in the next 48 hours to sign-up on a google doc for one of the available training spaces this weekend.
Finally, the SFC Board understands and acknowledges that we have not been able to offer the scope of training we had planned and will be making an adjustment in the club fee in the coming months.
I hope this helps give you more clarity on what lies ahead for Summit FC and puts your concerns at rest, allowing you to register and join us as soon as possible.
